Variety of job allows both patient and staff educational opportunities as well
as some direct care. Able to do research and to help implement evidenced based
practice in my unit.

Hours needed to do job are more than 40/week.

Lifestyle
Hours are flexible. No travel unless for education. Street clothes with a lab
coat. Lots of change in healthcare so always opportunities to learn new
information. University setting makes for a very multi-cultural patient and
staff so lots of diversity.

Compensation
Salaried position: $30-$33/hour base salary. Performance bonus
and tax-sheltered annunity available.

Advice to Jobseekers
CNS's seem to be experiencing a resurgance in popularity due to
the need for skills of an advanced practice nurse at the bedside
to mentor new nurses during orientation and to continue to
provide training as new things come along.
