Job Requirements
Law school is tough but worth it. I loved the U of Minnesota
and thought it was a great experience. I got all the classes I
ever wanted and I thought the grading was quite fair.
Law school requires a great deal of outside of class work and if
you are not prepared to do that, law school will seem grueling.
Class is designed to be extensive discussions that go beyond the
reading assigned for that particular day.

Uppers
I love working with clients and solving problems.
|
Downers
Long hours and lots of weekends
|
Lifestyle
Business dress, which can be costly between the clothes and the dry cleaning.
You work long hours but get paid nicely.
There is a lot of off-the-clock socializing and networking that must be done to
advance a legal practice.
|
Compensation
$92,000 with an additional $4000 if I meet my billable hours
goal of 1850. I am eligible for bonuses of up to $10K each year
if I exceed 1850 billable hours.

Advice to Jobseekers
There is always a need for lawyers even if not in a big firm. I
would encourage potential lawyers to talk to real lawyers in a
variety of legal practices to get a sense of how versatile this
degree can be.
