Job Responsibilities
Serve as chief operating officer of international non-profit
educational foundation. 50% of each day is spent addressing
human resource related issues, 30% is spent addressing
organizational or strategic issues, 20% is spent addressing ad
hoc/emergency type issues.

Knowing that the position is contributing towards the betterment of society.
Seeing the positive impact on individuals in growing through the programs that
the organization provides. Flexible hours is a plus. Exposure and access to
extremely successful individuals in government and business serving on the
organization's Board of Directors.

The compensation can often times be lower than would could be
commanded in the business sector. Increased responsibilities
with limited resources. Finding the balance between staff and
volunteer desires/initiatives.

Lifestyle
Lifestyle varies based on the age of the organization. Can be casual or business
attire. Work hours vary as well but generally 40-50 hours/week with occasional
weekend commitments. Wide range of exposure to community leaders via sponsored
events and fundraisers.

Compensation
Compensation varies but senior positions can command six figure
salary if well qualified. In general benefits are robust to make
up for lack of bonus or high salary. Benefits may
include "summer hours" (reduced work week), relaxed dress code,
403(b) plans, more vacation days, etc.

Non-profit job seekers are special because they are generally
not driven by material riches. Fulfillment of purpose is
something that should be motivation for the individual. As with
many jobs, those with experience will be rewarded appropriately.
