Job Requirements
Of course a finance or business background is favorable. Any
training in credit analysis or financial statements analysis
would be a huge help. The company offers training for a general
understanding of the banking industry, and lots of on-line
training. The best training for me has come through on-the-job
experience and through my co-workers. There are also lots of
training opportunities through some support organizations.

Uppers
The best parts of this job are building client relationships and helping
business people accomplish their goals. There are great opportunties to get
involved with your clients and offer them personal service tailored to them.
There is also encouragement to get involved within your community and to be
active.

Downers
The worst parts of the job would be personal preferences. For
instance, I like client relations better than credit analysis so
that part of the job is a struggle. It is necessary however, so
I just find ways to break up any monotany and get out and visit
clients. Other areas might not see this level of flexibility as
some of these positions in other areas are more for support and
credit analysis than sales and client relations.

Lifestyle
There is some travel required but not longer than a week to this point. The
average/majority of the travel is usually day trips or possibly overnight. It is
recommended that you attend community and social activities and volunteer with
some organizations. There are always things to do so being bored or having a lot
of down time is not a concern. There is a lot of freedom in how the work hours
are spent but 8-5 (give or take) are the usual hours. You will put in more by
attending events, client meetings, etc. Attire is very professional and there is
not much flexibility in that.

Compensation
Benefits are excellent-health, dental, etc. Bonuses are given on
performance and divided up within the business regions. So the
regions doing the best get more money and those branches within
those regions that are most successful see more benefit. There
are no specific sales goals that result in bonuses personally,
but divisions/groups are rewarded with prizes during company-wide
sales campaigns. Salary is good and there is room for advancement

Advice to Jobseekers
New comers should be detail oriented, enjoy helping businessees,
enjoy credit analysis, and should know that no one in this
industry is exempt from having sales goals. There is a lot of
potential in this industry to make a career for yourself if you
are a self-starter and make the most of the resources and
opportunties available.
