Job Responsibilities
As a sales executive you have alot you need to work flexible hours and bare in mind that when you are on any social calls they may be potential business clients. My reponisibilities involve obtaining corporate account for the company and you can do so through many means. - Networking, attending Exhibitions and conferences ( Trade Shows) - Business Direcotories, News papers, goverment agencies, Embassies ect. - Social networking, meet through mutual friends or influence of higher party. Another part of my Job is to maintain Corporate accounts - its all very well achieving a new contract but the hardest part is to keep that account. Therefore, weekly we would schedule 3 meetings with existing clients to have a cup of tea and encourage business. I also would then set up new meetings with potential Corporates. Should they be interested I would then prepare a quotation upon their request or a proposal letter. I have to continue to follow it up and encourage them to use our services. Also, I am doing sales reports, Budject reviews, Sales meeting minutes ect.
Job Requirements
I think for this specific career path it would be prefered that you have some knoweledge about the Travel Industry but it depends on your character. If you are determined and someone who does not give up easily. Course that would be beneficial would be Business management, Marketing, computer skills are essential.
Uppers
I enjoy my job because I have very flexible hours. It can become hectic in the high season period but I enjoy the pressure. You get to meet all sorts of people and characters and you learn how to deal with all walks of life. Some days you may be lucky and find something when you least expect it but other times months of hard work would pay off and you would get a huge contract that you had sort for. It can be a very rewarding job.
Downers
Although I am on a basic salary with a yearly incentive the draw back of this job would be depending on the company would be the commision based salary. As some times it would be feast and sometimes famine.
Lifestyle
I work 45 Hours a week. I have lunch out of the office at least 3 times a week. My Manager is very flexible as long as I bring in the business, I can do extra things that ar'nt on the business agenda. We have socail functions to attend usually 2 or so a month. As an executive you are not require to wear a uniform but should wear busines attire.
Compensation
Salary. Housing Allowance. Car Allowance. cellular Allowance. Yearly Incentive.
Advice to Jobseekers
I think this is a great job to do, as the hours are flexible. You get to meet all kinds of people some good some bad to you but its all part of a great learning experience. The art is in manipulation. The best advice that I ever received in a Sale meeting - is when the Buyers speaks more than the seller.
