Job Responsibilities
Warranty budget responsible. Both aspects : financial where I
have to know the accounting system, estimate methods, forecast
and planning and the second aspect technical analysis to
determine if a subject is warrantable or not, analysis done in
team coming from various departments (responsabilities).
Amount of time : 20% financial part, 50% technical analysis, 20%
approval of documentation, 10% to know what happens in my
company.

Job Requirements
Engineering (5 years after graduation) + financial/management
training (1year during my professionnal career).
It does not exist specific classes. It is a new job, well
structured since only 10 years. I have contributed to define the
responsabilities and the needed "tools".

Uppers
As explained in "2", it is very exciting to develop/define/promote a new job, I
worked since 10 years in warranty department. The caracteristic word is analysis
: analysis of my company to know how we work accounting, technical,
administrative and computing departments to create the tools, now analysis of
contractual documents (legal aspect) and technical analysis of warrantable
subjects, analysis of expenses to do forecast.

Downers
Worst parts : Scrutinization of documents that consists to check
correct wording. I check around 300 documents per year.

Lifestyle
Lifestyle : I am in front of the screen of my computer practically on day. All
documents are now computerize (pdf, word), all information are in databasis, the
main problem is to be linked to databsis as there are o lot of. One travel per
year, 10 meetings with suppliers (external to my company) sometimes outside that
permis to know an other environment.
Very good relationship with my collegues, no stress, I feel free and always
supported by my hierarchy if necessary (very costly subject).

Compensation
French law: I win as the 200 enginneers that works around me, no
specific avantages. Monthly salary that increases each year
depending of inflation and 1% depending of my hierarchy. One
times per year a bonus that represents minimum 8% of my anual
salary (can reach 10% depending of my hierarchy). One times per
years I received what french calls "participation and
interessement" (one month salary). No stock option my level to
too low.

Advice to Jobseekers
You never find a job advertisement as "search warranty analysis".
My advice for a seeker : Behing the cold word "warranty" is
hidden an interessing job that permits you to know rapidly our
company under various aspects. A good opportunity for your
career, but don't forget the rule N??1 for a career "Never stay in
the same department." I like more my job than my career because I
know I am appreciated.
