Climbing School was the first step in earning a position.
Basic Installation school is fast and not comprehensive-go in
early and stay late.

Job Requirements
Without a degree there is a mechanical apptitude test.
With a degree the candidate is given a physical test and sent for an interview.
The process starts slow but accelerates quickly once it has begun.

Compensation and camaraderie.
The only reason to be here is the money a good tech can make a high five figure
income
In my opinion the minuses outweigh the pluses, if I had it to do over I would
have found another opportunity.

Downers
There are many-the corporate culture inside is unpleasant.
The least intelligent person in the room is usually your boss.
Management and the Union do not work well together.
Layoffs are an issue.
There is open conflict within the work environment.
This company survives by being large (monopolistic)not good, the company does
not treat the employees or the customers well.
These are the opinions of one person - I did not have a positive experience.

Find the best tech in the garage and ask him to train you.
Hang around with the workers - there are some lazy techs that can ruin the work
environment.
The Foreman - Manager is not your friend, keep your eyes on him or her, they
will show up on job sites and crawl out of bushes. Keep your union steward's
phone number handy.

Compensation
Base between $52-62K, the money is in overtime and callouts - middle of the
night.
Depending on where a tech starts it can be 2-4 years before a tech hits the top
pay progression.
