Job Responsibilities
My major job responsibilities were to make sure staff were dressed in proper uniform , to give out certain tasks to other members of staff. To be there when a question or need arises. Staff training in all areas of shop floor and bakery assistance as in health and safety and making sure shelves were stocked and tidy and making sure the dates of the products were rotated properly as in older dates to the front of the shelf and kept tidy and maintaine a good rapor with the customer.
Job Requirements
I was trained as i worked withing the store i did not need any higher education to work in the depaqrtment and to reach supervisor.
Uppers
The best thing was the learning all about the bakery all the different products , how the bread etc are made being given the opertunity to go further within the store
Downers
The worst part is the heat in the middle of summer, it gets very very hot but asda did have i dont know if they still do that if it hit over a certain temp u could go for a drink break.
Lifestyle
The work hours are mainly daytime with early mornings starting from 6am but asda are flexable but a normal shift is 8 hours full time. they also have an evening shift and in some stores for example 24 hour theres a night shift too. Dress code is uniform and hat for health and safety, short nails , hair tied back and no jewlry. Social event include a christmas dance.
Compensation
You can have shares in the company and after a period of time you can cash these in. Salary are all different because of the different hours there are opertunities for overtime and store discount of 10%
Advice to Jobseekers
I loved this job it is very interesting and never dull. working within a department you will meet good friends and interaction with customers is good too. You get the odd complaint but you are trained to deal with these situations and if you are stuck there is always a manager on hand to help. Bakery work to me was great i loved learning how different breads and cakes are made and the training you get whilst working in great and can lead to management if you so wish.
