Corporate culture was very laid-back. The company had many new product
launch parties and quarterly company meetings that had the atmosphere of
a high school pep rally. Diversity at the corporate office was so-so.
White and black race categories were very well represented, but the
other minority groups were not, especially within the mid to upper
management levels.
The company was housed in a building that was much like a little
community - they had a company store, work-out facilities, dry cleaners,
day care, and cafeteria. Dress code was business casual, with jeans on
Friday.
They allow you to work flex hours (core hours of 9-4). Additionally,
during the summer and Christmas holidays, you get off at
1 pm on Fridays (although you are expected to make up your hours during
the rest of the week).
Opportunities for advancement is very political (at least in the Law
Department-where brown-nosing is rewarded.) Merit increases average
around 4% annually. Doing exceptionally well on your performance review
only earns you approximately another 2% increase.
While I was there, the benefits were pretty good. Very reasonable
medical, dental and vision premiums. They matched your 401K
contributions 100%, but only if the contributions were made towards
their stock. Since then, I have heard that they have changed to 100%
matching towards any of the funds they have available. They also offer
health care and dependant care flexible spending accounts, life, and
AD&D insurance.
