Job Title Workplace Survey
Lifeguard/Instructor Working at the Y was interesting and stressful; you were expected to do a lot for little pay. We basically only had to wear our swimsuits, on the rare occasion we were provided a tee shirt to wear they never got my size. They were pretty lenient with hours, although knowing full well that I had school to finish they often would approve time off but then accost me for taking it. There was little to no advancement in my position, management would use parent assessments for staff reviews, parents would complain that I spent to much time in the pool with the students and then others would complain that I spent to little, advice, nor instruction were given when some one did something incorrectly and most of the time you were expected to read minds.
