Very fast paced, hectic sales office. I was the only Admin & had to
handle the whole office so I was basically Office Manager also. When I
started it was Nextlink then they bought another company (data) and
changed both to XO Communications. There were too many changes being
made too fast. The stock plummeted down to almost nothing. The software
they expected the sales people to use was very confusing, even for
someone who understood databases. Hours were 8:30 to 5:00 but at the
last few days of the month and first couple of next month I would be
there until 8:00 (upside was they paid overtime). Dress code was nice
casual for office personnel but sales always had to be dressed to see
clients. Consultants would have to dress up if they were going with
sales people. A lot of reporting had to be done on a daily basis. You
really had to know what was going on with new orders, change orders,
etc. Revenue was a BIG deal!! There really was no room for advancement
unless you wanted to move to a different state. Main operations were
handled in Texas and Utah. Before I left they were starting to cut back
especially with the field technicians/installers.
