Job Title Workplace Survey
Network Consultant It was very unfortunate that the telecom sector took such a massive hit for I found working for Williams Communications a very good experience. The company was very people oriented and they provided me with an outstanding severance plan despite having only worked for them 1-1/2 years after 12 years with MCI. The company reminded me of MCI in their early tenure...much before WorldCom, for sure. Unfortunately for WCG, customers were not easy to find and I suspect to some degree this part of a flawed corporate business plan. When Williams Company spun off WCG, I knew at that point that the company was in trouble. Great flexibility with work hours, compensation for long travel hours, excellent severance package that also provided extended medical insurance coverage at employee rate, much independence that reflected respect for one's own accountability, and previously an emphasis on training before the budgets had to be cut. I would hope to find a similar employer again for I have been unemployed for 18 months now and no one other than the early MCI ever came close to WCG to work for. I do miss the good days.
