Management The pay is excellent, but more than well-earned. Being a white female in a Hispanic-culture academic environment is not always easy. Not only does the Hispanic culture seem to devalue the contributions of females, it takes even less notice when that female also happens to be a Gringo. Work hours are the routine 8-hour work day with an hour for lunch, however, I routinely work 1 to 2 hours overtime most days to keep up with my workload. Dress code is very casual which makes it a pleasure to come to work; we usually only "dress up" when VIPs visit our institute. I'm pretty much at the top of my particular career ladder so opportunities for further advancement aren't very promising.
