Management I work for the former "School of the Americas." Many Americans referred to us as the "School of the Assassins." We had a name change in 2000 to the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation. We are constantly in the congressional spotlight and it seems as if someone is always trying to find fault with our overall existence, so I have to say I don't always have a "warm and fuzzy" about the future of the institution. Employee morale has always been, in my opinion, on the low side and I blame that on lack of management involvement. Truly, I could not recommend this institution to someone seeking employment there. The mission of the institute is commendable and it does a lot of good, but the lack of strong management and overall leadership often dampens the prospect of a brighter future.
