I found the corporate culture initially to be very elegant and realised
later on that they did not really practice what they preached. I did
however like their dress code as it gave the environment a very
professional feel to it. Diversity? It is an old boys club with not too
many women in very high positions and minorities....well it is as white
as it can get. They are very blatant about promoting an inexperienced
white person over a non-white more experienced and more educated
person. If you are a non-white woman in a position such as I was, your
chances of advancement were rather limited no matter how hard you tried
and did all the right things for a chance of advancement. After I left
the company, a few bones were thrown to minority employees. And any form
of discrimination is quickly squashed at Wellington by the company
offereing the person who raised the discrimination or harrassment a good
sum of money to take away with them or the managers make your life a
living hell so you will leave on your own. That is why you dont hear of
any cases brought against Wellington because they pay people off. The
Partners at Wellington are protected no matter what they do. Example:
You get pregnant and tell your manager who happens to be a partner, you
are going to have a baby. He does not like the idea so he tells you to
better find another job because"this is not going to work". And when you
leave to have your baby, you return to a much reduced position and work
for an Associate Partner who makes your life hell so you leave. HR gives
you the same advice as well that they will help you find another
job....The Partner is always protected.
