Job Title Interview Survey
Reporter Typically candidates will receive a call from the assistant news director if they stand a good chance of getting an interview. A flight, hotel, and station car will be arranged for you if the timing works out. Candidates will be picked up by someone in management, often the news director, assistant news director, or both. The first meeting is usually over a meal. Then, the next day the candidate is invited to an all day affair at the station. This includes watching the morning meeting, formal interview sessions with upper level management incuding the general manager, president, vice president, and others in the newsroom you might meet on a less than formal basis. You might get an offer on the spot and must decide in a specified time frame of their choosing, or be told they will get back to you. The former usually means there are other candidates that have yet to come in for an interview.
