It was explained to all the employees what was expected of them as far as ethics in the workplace, customer service, and community involvement. The basic office hours were 8am to 5pm. I found this to be the standard at most companies. Washington Mutual made a point of having diversity in the workplace. I worked with a diverse group of people (white, black, handicapped, etc). The offer job opportunities on both the internet and intranet. This made it very easy to apply for other positions of interest. They encouraged people to advance their careers when an opportunity arose. It was very easy to stay informed. Management would communicate via email, intranet, and sending out publication to all the employees. I believe this was great to stay informed on business matters.
