Over the last 2 decades, Disney has taken on many acquisitions (such as
ABC-TV) and began other enterprises (such as Miramax) to capture more of
the entertainment market than only it's traditional family market.
Though not the "midas touch" it was once reputed to have, the diversity
makes the company able to weather hard times (like 9-11) without too
much difficulty.
Disney's numerous assets include TV, film, radio, theme parks,
merchandising, and has no equal at self-advertising. Just think, who
doesn't recognize the Disney name? True, employee morale isn't what it
used to be, but it still holds a great reputation (a well-deserved one,
at that) for FANTASTIC customer service, so employee morale isn't that
bad. Personally, I'd say that though it isn't what it could be for it's
employees, it sure beats the pants off most others. It's just like
working at any big company--opportunities abound, but count on being
just another number, just remember to smile!
