It was somewhat informal, as I responded to a solicitation for off-
campus interviews.
1st round was two VPs and one MD ... walk through my resume and a very
casual "fit interview". The jist of it was "can you work the
hours", "can you handle the work" and they were judging my demeanor.
it was prob a little easier b/c one person worked at my former employer
(Big 5), and one person was an alum from my MBA program, so there was a
comfort level with my background.
2nd round, three MDs and one VP. Abstract valuation question about
stadium naming rights with healthcare MD (not in my group). M&A MD
quizzed me about transactions details (evalutaion metrics for an M&A
tranaction ... accretive/dilutive, exchange ratio, proration, implied
earnings growth). Also met with a private client MD ... very laid back,
not much content to the interview.
3rd round, SVP/managing MD for my area was in town from Charlotte &
wanted to approve me. This guy was very stand-offish ... almost like
he was trying to rattle me. He asked me what I thought was required to
make me successful ... so this was just another fit interview.
From there, they extended the processs for a few more weeks, but they
told me pretty quickly that I was their guy. I didn't get paperwork until
a month later, then they gave me 1 week to sign.
