They have no corporate culture, but they are very proud of the one they
think they have, although no-one in the company can articulate what it
might be like. I couldn't make this up.
They are sort of diverse, which means mostly asian, which makes
conference calls difficult, since not everyone speaks English well
enough to be understood by a non-Asian.
Dress and hours are at the whim of the client: Vitria doesn't care in
the least. I did not observe anyone advance within the company in the
1.5 years I was there, except that one guy whose hiring paperwork went
through at a lower level than the hiring manager told him it would be
was "promoted" (complete with a company-wise announcement) to the level
he was promised a few months after he was hired.
They tended to send a "lone ranger" consultant riding into town without
any meaningful backup, which led to some getting into trouble. Truth
is: almost all got into trouble sooner or later if they stayed with the
company long enough. The position requires a tremendous amount of
customer management skills, in addition to a lot of highly specialized
technical skills, none of which the company did very much to train,
teach or reinforce.
