As you have probably figured out by now, employee morale there (for
those employees left) is very low. Although Vitria has, overall,
better ideas, their competitors have demonstrated better capability to
execute, and the marketplace seems to be aware of this. Their best
markets now seem to be more or less narrow vertical markets (like
health care providers) for whom they have created fairly comprehensive
pre-packaged setups that can be installed without a bazillion
consulting hours.
Working with the prodct was very challenging, since the rate of change
of the software's features far outstripped their capability to properly
document, test and debug it. We found constant communication with
Engineering to be pretty necessary, and sometimes had to install more
than 1 bug fix in a week.
Realistically: although the product is quite cool, working for Vitria
requires more patience, energy and endurance than most people are
willing to dedicate to a company they don't own.
