Sr Product Manager Verizon will need to overcome several challenges in the next few years to continue to be successful. Competition from cable companies, customers moving to wireless service, and VoIP eroding LD revenues are issues that must be successfully addressed to maintain market leadership. I think there are several lower level employees (Product Managers, Directors, VPs) that have the talent and leadership to move the company to the next level. I'm not sure the executive team will allow them to move forward on their ideas. If you want a steady paycheck, and have no interest in moving up the ladder, Verizon may be a great fit. Also, Verizon will have issues with their unionized labor force until the end of time. Management will be expected to drop everything and pick up the slack while the unions picket. The last union contract negotiation had the company on hold for at least 30 - 45 days. In this competitive marketplace, that's not acceptable.
