VUMC has open houses and job fairs for nurses on a semi-regular basis.
I attended one last June. This is a great way to get people to work for
you. I liked the manager with whom I toured. I was able to talk to
other areas and decide what I did and didn't like. I didn't get an
exact salary quote, but I got a fair approximation unlike some other
hospitals. I did not interview with a manager I knew via my daughter,
because I felt like it could be a conflict of interest or awkward.
I did have an additional interview with another manager the next day. I
don't think I remember any specific questions. I did interview in
another area that I originally thought I would split my time with. I
have decided that it is better to stay in one place and that the fit was
better.
