It is very different from many hospitals. My department is composed of a step-down unit, an intensive care unit, and the corresponding outpatient clinics. We do a lot of self scheduling in my area, but other areas don't. Our dress code is pretty informal for nurses. No designated colors. There are opportunities for advancement. It is very diverse. We have employees who are native to this area and others from all over the world. It is ok to be gay (at least in my area) though I am not. Health insurance is also offered to significant others.
