Lecturer Written application form + c.v. (written specifically to meet the requirements of the job adverstiement). Internal processing for short list. Followed by telephone interview (about 1 hour). Interview was conducted by the Head of the Department. Questions concerned: Details of teaching experience; requirements for acqusition of information about New Zealand to include in teaching; acquisition of skills, information and understanding about Maori and bicultural issues; explanations of promotion requirements; information about acquiring New Zealand residency. At presnt, in person interview is more typical than telephone interview. Includes a group interview with academic staff, individual interview with head of department and other administrators, and a presentation of current research. It is expected that the review will follow the structure of a research article, and be at a standard of international research conference presentations. This strongly influences perception of competence for the position of Lecturer or Senior Lecturer. Additionally, a strong publication record and teaching evaluations are valuable.
