Actually, the year was 1987. That salary was for 3/4 time. ($45K). I
had just
been offered $45K for full time at UA, had been earning $60K at Los
Alamos.
Working 3/4 time at UA enabled me to keep my LANL job for the other 1/4
time, thus not taking a pay cut to move. (that was one of my goals).
UA has state retirement system, but also offers TIAA-Cref. My job
enabled me to
join TIAA-Cref, until I was kicked out of it 18 months ago.
