Job Title Salary Survey
Submarine Warfare Officer www.dod.mil/dfas has information on military pay. Submarine officers receive Base Pay, BAS, BAH, Submarine Pay, Sea Pay and various other special pays as applicable. Total compensation started at ~40k for a fresh college grad and ramped to ~70k at the four-year point. Signing contracts for continued service beyond the first five-year term can push yearly compensation to 100k, although this incurs an additional 3-yr service obligation. A submarine officer with twenty years of service today makes ~150k in total compensation and can retire with a pension of ~40k per annum. You make enough money to live comfortably. (And you won't have too much time to spend the money anyways so your bank account will probably be large!)
