Judge Being a Marine Judge Advocate is about being first an Officer of Marines and then a lawyer. The job is challenging and combines the worlds of battlefield warrior and courtroom warrior. The passage is tough, the rewards gratifying. The dress code is normally cammies. You will wear a service uniform (essentially slacks and a short-sleeve dress shirt) when appearing in court. The hours are as long as you want them to be. There is plenty of work to do, but you will be treated as a professional and allowed to set your own hours, within reason. The opportunities for advancement are mostly dictated by seniority. You can only advance so fast, which is the greatest frustration of the military career path.
