Job Title Workplace Survey
Supervisor The dress code is business casual which is great. I dont have to spend my whole paycheck on suits like some of my friends who work in a more traditional business environment. Opportunties for advancement are good if you have a degree. Vast number of employees do not(which I was surprised to find out). Ther are a few dead end jobs int the government the key is to continually educated yourself. The pays is ok, you will never get rich working for the government unless you can get to the excecutive level(most people on executive level are near or past retirement age). The job security is excellent. In my department of 30 people no one has been fired in my 4 years. In the managment positions there is not enough divirsity. I am the only black professional in my unit. And there are only 5 minority people in professional positions on my entire floor(about 10% of the floor). I think the number should be higher. There are great opportunities for women though as we outnumber men. Most units go by a flexiplace program where you can occasionally work from home. Overall I would give Department of Labor a B grade
