Job Title Interview Survey
Military Officer Interview processes are not really applicable to the military. Personnel are assigned by 'branch' managers based on personnel files without seeing the personnel. It is possible to affect one's assignment, but only through personal interaction with the branch managers, i.e., hoping for a favor. There are three avenues to a standard commission (not legal, medical, or clergy): ROTC, OCS, and West Point. OCS is a 14 week school for current enlisted soldiers. ROTC is a program in colleges including summer training. Service academies including West Point are 4-year colleges with a strong military program that leads to a mandatory commission for all graduates. One significant difference is that West Point graduates can (in most cases) choose their job function (Infantry, Transportation, Military Intelligence) and location, and OCS and ROTC graduates (in most cases) are assigned randomly to jobs and locations.
