Your recruiter will set up everything for you at this point, as long as
you qualify. Enlisting is very easy. You may have to see your
recruiter for a few months in the Delayed enlistment program. You will
have to go to a MEPS office to have a medical review at this point.
The Air Force will pay for all your travel to and from MEPS. You will
have to answer a list of questions given to you by your recruiter about
your past and about what kind of job you would like to hold. The wide
variety of jobs they have will please everyone. Any career you have in
mind to pursue will be available to you in the Air Force, and not only
will they send you to school for free, but you will be paid for your
time spent in school, really nothing compares to this deal. I have to
say that when I got to basic training I was scared at first and thought
that I had made a huge mistake, this turned out not to be the case. I
got through basic training with absolutely no problems. Then I went to
technical training which took place in Witchita Falls Texas. I have to
say that I had a great time there, learning my job, and meeting new
people. Training varies with the career you choose as far as length
goes, I was in training for nearly a year, some jobs take only 6
weeks. If you don't like to move around this job is probably not for
you, I ended up moving almost every year, but I loved it. If you do
want to join the Air Force and not move around so much that option is
also available to you with home basing, where you can chose to stay at
a particular base for the most of your career.
