Working for the Air Force provides on the job training, skills,
supervisory experience, a chance to travel, education opportunities,
some of the best benefits including medical and dental, along with paid
vacation time. Promotion is based on your knowledge of job and
military skills. You start at the bottom (with credit given for any
college experience) with unlimited opportunity to advance. Anybody
could make a career out of this opportunity, and if you don't want to
make a career out of the Air Force, enlist for four years and take
advantage of the money they supply for college afterwards. Thats what
I did and was very happy with the opportunities handed to me for my
experience. I worked 7-4 Monday through Friday just like any civilian
job. You will be issued your uniforms for free. The most rewarding
benefit I think the Air Force offered in my situation was on the job
training. It gave me the skills I needed to get a good paying job when
I left the Air Force to pursue my education. The Air Force does have
very strict rules, that are highly enforced. I would say that besides
the relocating and the chance for deployment that is the biggest
downfall. If you are deployed you will be paid a hazardous duty pay,
many people find this extra pay worth it and many volunteer to be
considered for deployment. I myself was chosen for deployment once and
didn't really want to go, someone stepped up and took my place for me.
I think this is a great opportunity for someone looking for a job, or a
career. You can really make something of yourself here.
