A horrific experience probably equivalent to Iraq (without the blood and
gore). Not fun at all. Work politics like no other workplace. Very
fluctuating start times ranging from 8am to 4am to 2am to midnight to
5:30pm. I'm not joking. 60-hour weeks. Physical labor is ridiculous. "I'm
an engineer. I don't have to lift 70 lb packages." That's what a
vault.com non-member would say. Suits required 4 days a week and business
casual on Fridays are not what you think it might be. Nazi-like details.
No dating policy. Of the 360,000 worldwide, you cannot date a single
person. No joke. When I said I'm going to get lunch one day, one of the
drivers asked if I was getting Chinese food (I'm an Asian-American). He
was being serious. These are not lies. I swear. I could go on and on but
I don't have the time. In the end, they forced me to resign for vague
reasons including not being assertive enough and treating my job as a job
and not a career. You don't have to screw up to lose your job. They're
also big on political donations. If you don't donate to PAC, except to be
subtly disciplined (or relocated). That's right. No joke again. You can
get relocated to any place in the district. If they place you in
Evansville and you refuse, they're going to make you regret it one way or
another. Oh, and facilities are scary. No A/C. Outside the offices are
ice cold or blazing hot.
