As I remember, there were two interviews: the first, with Human
Resources. Questions were pretty standard with a few
pointed "emotional maturity" posers thrown in for good measure. I
left the office with absolutely no idea as to what kind of an
impression I had left.
The second interview was with the Senior administrative person. (I
never quite figured out how this person held on to the position they
held.) I was treated to a tour of the office, introduced to several
analysts and to my colleague, who must have imagined that I was
incapable and/or completely spineless as she was quick to treat me as
her junior, when in all fact, I discovered that I had considerably more
experience in the field. Further, during my second interview, it was
evident from certain statements made that several previous attempts to
fill my position at a more junior level had led to serious altercations
and accusations, so they had decided to create an equivalent position
to avoid the power struggle. I have no idea why they had retained her
as I soon realized that she was afraid of her computer and preferred to
do things "her" way, inevitably creating problems for others with
deadlines and such.
Although I have to admit that I learned a fair bit while I was employed
there, it was certainly the most disappointing employment experience
I'd had in over 25 years.
