| Investment Banking Summer Analyst |
UBS conducted two rounds of interviews for Investment Banking Summer
Analyst positions. The first round was held with an associate and an
executive director. They asked some general fit questions like why
investment banking, why ubs. They also asked many questions concerning
various details on my resume, especially about my prior internships and
work experience. They inquired about what my long term plans were and if
i was mainly interested in banking and if i had other career interests
like consulting. They also asked how many banks i had interviewed with
and how many i had coming up and the results of the previous interviews.
After these general fit, experience questions, they asked one technical
question- how to value a company. they wanted more than one method , so
just DCF was not good enough (this is where vault's guide really helped
me cause i talked about comparables).
the HR person contacted me that night informing me that i had a second
round interview two days later. The second round interview was with
another director and associate. This interview was very informal and
casual for the first half. They joked around with me about the
interesting things on my resume and asked me about my favorite bars and
how school was going. After joking around, they asked me why i wanted to
do banking and why UBS. Then they asked me quite a few techinical
questions. Again, they asked how to value a company (more than one
method). They asked several accounting questions like how are the three
financial statements connected together. They also asked about the P/E
ratio and its significance. They also asked about what kind of merger
was it (accretive or dilutive) when a company aquired another company
with a higher P/E. They also asked what enterprise value was.
After the second round interview, they contacted me that night offering
me a summer position
