Job Title Interview Survey
Financial Analyst I was identified as a candidate through a staffing agency in NYC and forwarded to the local staffing agency in Norwalk, CT. I interviewed with two financial managers in financie "group 1" for two financial analyst positions, @ $55K, one financial manager of finance "group 2" for a senior financal analyst position @ $65K and one financial manager finance "group 3" assistant manager position @ $70K. After these initial interviews, I interviewed with the Director of the Finance "group 1" group and then the VP. I was presented the next day with an offer to begin the following week as financial analyst for financie "group 1" with a $2K starting bonus, 10% annual bonus. All inteviews were held on one day due to the distance that I had to travel to get to the Norwalk, CT. The interviews with the the managers and VP were typical. They asked questions using the resume as a guidance and added a few person questions. The Diretor made a point during our interview of pointing out the company was recovering from a citation of fraud from the SEC and offered the supporting documentation behind the SEC's findings. As a current employee I have observed that my particular experience and the urgency to higher was unusual. Starting bonuses at that level are also unusual. I was told that the position would report to a manager and would be to prepare me to take the place of the manager that I was to support as she was going to be moving to a different part of the company soon. On my first day the following week, I was informed that the manager who I was to report to had resigned and I was to shadow her for the next two weeks. I was introduced to my new boss who was also starting that day and had absolutely no experience in finance and no Master's degree. She too had interviewed just the week before but could not sit with the person she was replacing because she had to report to her previous company for two more weeks. It's going on two years and I have not been considered for an available manager position. That is the norm. I add the last two paragraphs as commentary on the hiring process becasue I beleive that they are quite relevant (please keep as confidential)
