Towers Perrin is an ok place to work. As with any job, there are pluses
and minuses. Quite frankly, they seem to put people in charge who are
out of touch with long-term views. We hear alot of retoric on being a
people business, focused on client satisfaction, yada, yada, but I have
yet to see TP emerge as the people business they claim to be. We
counsel our clients on how to handle layoffs, but we do not practice
what we sell. Egos determine business decisions, not business logic and
smarts. Emails go out talking about "changes are coming" and vague
explanations of realignment, yet no one will provide answers.
Leadership is not as strong as they think - a company-wide survey was
completed, and answers were "shocking" to upper management. Scores were
low in communication. Shocker!
Anyway, dress code - never enforced the same - depending on where you
work, or who you work for - we have the "gestapo" folks who walk around
and make issues, and those who come in sweats and sneakers when clients
are in-house.
Opportunity for advancement - if you think outside the box, forget about
it. It seems that if you can act like a robot, and not even think about
how your segment impacts someone elses - great, you'll move ahead. Try
to just learn the process and how you fit - nope.
Hours - I agree with what someone else said - if you have no family or
others who depend on you, the work environment will suit you. As much
as they say they are a family-friendly environment, it is frowned upon
in some areas for taking time off - even when you plan way ahead of time.
