Timken is a publicly traded company, but controlled largely by the
Timken family. The recent acquistion of the Torrington Company has
provided opportunites to many of the associates, but also some amount of
workforce rationalization. Associates of the Timken Company are treated
very fairly and in my case, exceptionally well by the company. On the
negative side, the medical benefits offered by the company decrease
annually. All of the associates I am sure would like to see Timken's
stock value increase, but it does not show signs of doing so in the near
future. The flat stock price seems to be more associated with Timken's
primary markets (bearings and steel) than with Timken's management team.
