I worked in the Human Resource Department. Due to corporate structure at
the time, there was quite a bit of overlap with other divisions handling
similar responsibility. For example, there was an unspoken kind of
rivalry between the folks who handled benefits administration for the
corporate entity (Times Mirror) and the folks who did the same for the
local company (Los Angeles Times).
The culture was fairly diverse, which might be expected for the
publishing, communications type of corporation.
I worked 7 AM to approximatley 4 PM. The dress code was fairly relaxed.
In the position I held, there were absolutely no opportunities for
advancement.
