I have extensive experience on the as400 Maineframe Accounting system,
which
made me the perfect canidiate. In December of 1998 I was given a $1200
bonus for
Christmas. I was so grateful, that I didn't know what to do.
Approximately 2
yers
ago, my company was purchased by a big Corporation, that originated in
Scottland.
I knew there were going to be changes, but never imagined how drastic
these
changes were going to be, and the affect it would make on my employment
with
this
company. Here I am 2 years later. Laid off on July 2, 2004. And looking
for a
new
job. The new company decided to cut overhead, and moved the accounting
to the
Corporate office in Los Angeles. I watched this family owned location go
from 3
sattelite offices to centralizing all accounting to the Corporate office
in L.A.
When it was a family owned company, they took very good care of their
employees.
I had paid medical for my family and I. Bonuses every Christmas, up to
$5000 for
one year. At one time, I had the best job anyone could ever want. The
good
thing,
is that my boss informed me one month ahead of time, that the accounting
would
be
moving, he told me I would be laid off at the end of the month. I was
paid 4
weeks severance pay, and given an exceptional letter of recommendation.
I am now
on the internet at Monster.com and various agencies, eagerly looking for
work. I
received a good salary, grossing ove $62,000.00 last year so I qualify
for to
maximum unemployment which is $410.00 per week. I am a single parent
with a
daughter attending college in Chico. I pay her monthly rent of $525.00,
monthly
car insurance of $196.00, a purchase all of her books. She works at the
college
part-time to pay for her food and utilities. In a way I feel lucky to
have been
told a month ahead of time, so I could plan for my future, without
affecting my
daughters schooling. Last week, I received a Thank-You card from one of
my
foreman, lettting me know that he really misses me,and thanking me for
all my
help. In the last Paragraph he wrote, " I hope that everything is going
well.
Night before last One of my friends from the Corporate office called,
and She
said, "Us Girls just wanted to know how your doing and if I found a job
yet!"
They wanted me to know that I am getting the highest recommendation they
have
ever seen given to a former employee. "For That I'm Grateful".
