The company recruited me and told me how well they were doing
financially. After being hired I found that they were losing $1.5
million per month. The corporate culture is very negative. People are
constantly put down. During corporate meetings people are sworn at and
their ideas and work are ridiculed and put down. I have NEVER been
talked to the way that I was spoken to at Thomas Steel. The negativity
among the employees was awful. There was no positive energy anywhere.
Most employees wouldn't make eye contact because they were afraid of
being screamed at. It was worst environment that I ever worked with.
The Vice President of Human Resources had worked at another steel
company. He was firing all the Thomas Steel employees and bringing his
former co-workers in. Dozens of good performing employees were fired to
make way for his friends. Many of whom were incompetent. When my
position was eliminated, I was very relieved.
