In September 2003, I learned of a sales position with TI. I applied and
was granted an interview. The interview day began by taking a flight to
Dallas. TI rented a car for me and I drove to the office. It started
with an 90 minute interview with Tom Springmeier where we talked about
sales approaches and my philosophy of education. We covered my resume
and experience while addressing my strengths and weaknesses. After the
interview he took me to lunch, where we continued to informally
interview talking about personal matters. After lunch I met with Lori
Jarusel for about an hour. This second session was different because I
had been in touch with her before about the position. This segment was
more of a two way conversation where I asked as many questions as she
did. Around 2:30 pm we were finished and I went back to the airport for
my return flight.
In the end, I didn't take the sales position for which I interviewed. I
was offered and accepted a different opening. I now work with TI's
educational professional development service called Teachers Teaching
with Technology.
