Salary package for a new employee with less than five years of experience has a
midpoint of $59000. For a senior engineer, midopoint is ~$82k, for a
specialist,
midpoint ~ $90K, and for a principle, midpoint is ~$92k. No TVA employee can
make a salary that exceeds the income of a congressman. TVA tends to hire at
90%
of the midpoint (target) salary. For the first three years of employment, each
individual earns 4 hours of Annual Leave (vacation) and 4 hours of sick leave
per
pay period. There are 26 pay periods (biweekly pay checks). After 3 years of
employment, each individual earns 6 hours of Annual Leave and 4 hours of sick
leave per pay period. After 15 years, employees earn 8 hours of annual leave
and
4 hours of sick leave per pay period. Sick leave never expires and can be built
up to any amount of hours. Annual leave can only cumulate to 240 hours (6
weeks).
Beyond 240 hours, annual leave must be taken, or it will be forfeited.
An attractive 401K package with Fidelity Investments. Medical coverage is
choice of HMO or PPO.
Schedules for engineering employees are flex schedule (your choice to work 4
-10s, 9-80s, or 5 -8's with management approval). Engineering employees are all
represented by the Engineering Association. This is not a union; it is a
unified voice. You do have the choice to join or not join. The EA negotiates
general pay increases and conducts market surveys for salaries. This is done
annually.
