1) What did I do
My last two years in Telefonica I worked as Broadband Manager in the
Marketing Department. I am in charge of ADSL Project. My main tasks here
include a strong relation with LatAm and Spain directors.
Previously (1997-2001) I was in charge of other Internet of Voice
Marketing products.
In 1994??1997, finally, I worked at the Network planning department. My
work was related to the deploying PSTN lines first effort of Telefonica
as the southern ILEC of the country.
2) Cultural aspects
Telefonica is a more traditional telco that many others here. My view
has nothing to do with dress codes or hours, but with the sense of
authority and hierarchy levels. The authority projected by Spain in many
ways may block or altere local decisions. Sometimes it seems to be very
important to be "alineado" (the usual word that describe that you should
follow the upstairs decissions). Thus, laboral opportunities are often
very linked with sharing the point of view of the hierarchy overseas.
