I was fired for absences, despite the fact that all but two of them were
not documented with doctors' notes. I was warned verbally and in
writing, even when I provided evidence that either I or my infant was
sick enough to prevent me from coming to work. This company provides
sick time, but you get into trouble, whether it's verbal or written, if
you use it without giving prior notice. Who can give notice if they're
sick? Any sick time is considered unapproved, regardless if it's paid.
You may get paid for it if you have time accrued, but you get admonished
for taking that time when you need it. I was accepted into the company's
advanced training program, yet I still got fired for attendance, despite
the legitimate reasons for my absences.
