Store Manager Worked for them for many years. Can be a great place to work for. But, the culture of the upper level management (District Managers on up) have reverted back to the "gotcha" attitude. Visits (tours) are mostly unannounced. If there is ANYTHING wrong in your store, they will find it. All the things that are right in your store will be overlooked. Anything that you have corrected since the last visit will probably not be acknowledged. Nothing wrong with taking your store, and the company, to the next level, but need some form of recognition when goals/expectations are met or exceeded on a regular basis. It really used to be a Fast, Fun, and Friendly place to work for. Now it's just Fast. And I'm not a disgruntled ex-team member. In the last two years, there has been at least 12 Store managers that have left the company from the St. Louis Districts alone. Some were incompetent, but many left because the rewards (read "thank you" and "recognition") were far and few in between. The leaders need to wake up and smell the roses before they lose any other quality people to other companies (Lowes, Old Navy, Kohls).
