The college was deemed by it own rules to own the person, body, mind and
soul. We were expected to work from 8am to 9pm Monday to Thursday and
8am to 5pm on Friday and 9am to 1pm on Saturdays. It was called an
equal opportunities college but the disabled people who went for jobs
there would by default never get the jobs. Roles where given out on a
whistleblower basis, if you wanted to gossip you would get the jobs and
promotion would quickly follow. Exam qulifications and experience
counted for nothing. At one stage I was told there was no role as a
teacher for me within the college as they were not taking on staff and
then they employed a few people who had no experience or qulifications.
Managers asked ridiculous unachievable targets raising the student quota
from 250,000 to 750,000 in one year as there was more money to gain for
the college if the totals were higher.
Over five years a whole department took students names enrolled them,
never had the students in the class and did the work themselves just to
get the money from the government at a total approximating ??14 million
over the five years.
The college principal was flippant with comments and regularly told
staff who he like and who he did not like. Resulting in sideway
movements, sackings and long term sick.
