Business Outlook

Company does not want to be an industry leader. This is viewed as a way
to keep costs down. This also limits the company vision - long term is
more than a couple of months with this corporate culture.
This is the French/Belgian version of ExxonMobil. Many aspects of
ExxonMobil are repeated in spades at Total, but with a French and
Belgian twist.
The business outlook is mediocre. Manufacturing will shift to the
Middle East and Asia. Europe will be supported because it is a
French/Belgian company and the unions in those countries will limit site
shutdowns. That leaves American sites uncertain. Perhaps the American
business could be expanded to promote a true global company. The worst
case scenario is that American sites are placed in a slow death spiral,
bleed as cash flow machines to subsidize business in other areas.
In case this is not clear - all this is the opinion of one employee.
Other locations other than the one I work at might be better. Ask good
questions and best of luck if you do interview with Total.
