Overall, things are good. I can't get into this any more than what i
said in first section, much of this work is confidential, so the best I
can say is do your due diligence and check out the firm's website:
www.statestreet.com. Go to finance.yahoo.com, follow the
message board, track the stock, read the news. Ticker is STT. The
product range StateStreet offers is very, very good. It's pricier than
their competitors but for a reason. They really do offer a better
service and really are the best in the world at Back office work.
overall outlook is good. More room to grow for sure, certainly in
Canada things are looking up after 2 desultory years, but overall,
senior management is very, very, very strong at stateStreet. Biggest
problem, taht I saw, would be middle management. Not exciting
people at all, not very good at motivating employees, seems like it's
a constant battle between senior management trying to envigorate
and excite employees and middle managers cutting their efforts
down and suprressing employees that cause waves or are
exceptional. (personally I never had that type of a problem, but I
saw some really talented people get pretty much squished)
Anyway, it's a solid firm to work for, not bad at all, just be sure that
you know what sort of an environment you want to work in, and be
sure that you consider that being away from the head office of the
company (boston) or the region (toronto, london, paris, Frankfurt,
hong kong, tokyo) renders the experience less fruitful. Be very
aware of that. I think Statestreet is a much better company, in terms
of mobility and opportunity if you're considering going into one of
their major offices. Anywa, so hopefully all this helped out, good
luck!
