State Farm was a wonderful company with family values that took pride in
its policyholders and employees. In recent years with new VP's the
family disintegrated. Reduction of expenses and services became the
primary focus with the closing of offices, retirement packages, and the
new zone transition concept. For example, to save a few dollars per
employee overhead music will soon be eliminated in all offices. Talk
about pinching pennies, estimate it costs about $3.00 per employee to
keep the music alive.
New Motto/Goal: "Reduce expenses by reducing employees". "Provide better
quality service with fewer employees".
We have been told opportunities for advancement are virtually non-
existant regardles of tenure unless you wish to relocate to Bloomington,
Ill. Soon transition packages/severance will be offered to "impacted
employees" this includes significant reduction of salaries, and
termination. We've been advised if you cant find a new position or the
company offers you one within your salary range (beginning of pay scale
to max) and you dont take it you will be terminated!
What a sad saga for a company that once was the best in the industry
with the most loyal, educated, and caring employees. What a disservice
to the State Farm family. If you have a heart and are hard working and
dedicated to your employer better look for employment elsewhere!
We are all hanging on to our jobs with a thread waiting for the ax to
fall. Morale is so low alot dread even coming to work. So many people
have been told there jobs will be eliminated and this is just the
beginning. We've lost hundreds of long term caring employees and more
are leaving State Farm behind them with a sad heart and even sadder
memories of what was once the best company to work for.
